For years, Bob Poremba and his son Jeff had been champions of sustainable living, heating their homes with the warm, comforting embrace of wood and pellet stoves. When the pellet shortage struck in 2005, it became clear to them that the community needed a dedicated resource for not only pellets but also other eco-friendly heating solutions. This realization sparked a vision, and in August 2006, they breathed life into that vision by opening Green Heat, located at 3815 Main Street in Stone Ridge, NY.
Green Heat quickly became more than just a store; it became a beacon for green energy enthusiasts. They offered a wide range of products, including Pellet and Wood Stoves, Fireplaces, Fireplace Inserts, and top-quality pellets, all meticulously chosen to align with their environmental ethos. The store wasn’t just a place to shop; it was a hub of warmth and personalized service.
Bob and Jeff, embodying the essence of old-fashioned customer care, often knowing their customers on a first-name basis. They believed that exceptional service & advice—before, during, and after the sale—was the bedrock of a thriving business. Their dedication extended beyond just selling products; they are factory-trained experts who provide insightful advice and unparalleled support.
As Green Heat's reputation for exceptional service and green practices grew, so did their team. Bob and Jeff carefully selected new team members who shared their values and commitment to sustainability. Each new addition brought fresh energy and passion to the store, enhancing their ability to offer knowledgeable, personalized service.
These new team members were not just employees but partners in their mission to promote eco-friendly living. Together, they foster a culture of care and environmental stewardship that resonated with every customer who walked through the door. The store, fully insured and proudly green, showcases a variety of Wood, Pellet, Biomass, and Gas stoves, complemented by an assortment of elegant hearth accessories. Recently, we added an Outdoor section. Featuring Lighting, Grills, Fire Features, Torches and landscaping.
Living up to their name, Green Heat practices what they preach. Their commitment to sustainability was woven into the very fabric of their business operations:
The store itself is heated exclusively with wood and pellets, rendering oil deliveries a relic of the past. They hadn’t had a fill-up of oil since their inception over almost 2 decades ago.
Bob and Jeff are staunch recyclers, processing tons of corrugated cardboard annually, and diligently recycling scrap metal, outdated stoves, non-essential office paper, cans, bottles, and even printer ink cartridges.
They took recycling to the next level by reusing packing materials from new stoves and finding a manufacturer to repurpose thousands of wooden pallets used for pellets.
Their green practices extend into their homes, where they continued to champion the cause of recycling and sustainability. Bob and Jeff’s unwavering commitment to eco-friendly practices highlighted a powerful message: if everyone embraced recycling with the same fervor, the collective impact on the environment could be transformative.
Through Green Heat, they demonstrated that small actions, multiplied across a community, could ignite significant change.
